Important information about Kingsham Primary School

    Dear Parents and Carers

As we draw to the end of a very busy and highly successful term, I am sending our final newsletter of the year. It is an enormous privilege to work with a school of such fantastic children who inspire us daily and it is a joy for us to reflect at this time of year on the scale of achievement that we have all been a part of. Thank you to all of our parents and carers for the huge amount of support that we have received throughout the year. We are excited to enjoy a restful summer break before starting the new year with the same levels of passion and enthusiasm.

    Ofsted Inspection

As you know, we received our Section 8 (ungraded) Ofsted inspection on 10th and 11th June. We have now received the final report and I am delighted to share it with you. We are extremely proud of the findings of the report and believe that it reflects the wonderful school that we are building together. Equally, we will continue to work extremely hard on the areas that have been highlighted to improve - this is our drive for the 2025-26 year. I would like to thank all of the staff, governors, volunteers and community for all of their passionate work to provide the outcomes that we provide for the children - which are recognised within the report. Please click here to see the report.

    National Curriculum Tests

We have now received the results of our National Curriculum Tests for our Year 6 pupils. Again, they are in line with, or above national levels and they improve on the record results we achieved last year. The children should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved and once again my thanks to all of our parents and carers for their support of home learning and encouraging the children to attend additional groups and mentoring etc. It really makes a difference. Please click here to see a summary of our results.

    Staff Leaving Kingsham Primary School

As we come to the end of the year, we say goodbye to Miss Holland-Pillado and Miss McCallum. Miss Holland Pillado has been with us for over three years as a Teaching Assistant and After School Club Supervisor. We are very grateful to her for her work across the school from Rec to Year 6 and wish her luck as she embarks on a PGCE on her journey to become a teacher. Miss McCallum joined us on a temporary contract in Willow class and has poured in lots of love to the job. We send her all of our best wishes as she moves back home to continue a career in education.

We will welcome two new teaching assistants into our school in September.

    School Trips Next Year

As I am sure you are aware, school budgets are becoming tighter and tighter. When reviewing our budget from last year, the most significant cost was for school trips where parents and carers did not make a voluntary contribution. While we budget for a shortfall to support families who are eligible for Pupil premium, we cannot cover a shortfall of £30 000 as we have done this year. If we do not receive 70% of the cost of the trip next academic year, we will be forced to cancel it.

We will let you know in the Meet the Teacher meetings which trips will be coming up for your children and an estimated cost for those trips.

    Breakfast and After School Club

From next week, you will be able to book sessions of Breakfast and/or After School Club for the Autumn term. Please go to your Arbor app where you can book any of the sessions that you wish. Breakfast club is £4 per session and After School Club is £7.50 per session.

    Summer Reading Challenge

We continue to urge you to read with your children, to read to your child and listen to them read over the summer holidays. Sharing books makes such a difference to a child’s learning throughout the year and we do not want it to stop over the 6-week break.

Why not take part in the Summer Reading Challenge – ‘Story Garden’ – information below:
